Behavior Management Plan

"All students will

Establish Positive Rapport

  • 01

Establish a good rapport with students at the beginning of the school year.

  • 02

Mutual respect is present in the classroom and expected of the teacher and the students.

  • 03

Class rules are written and agreed on by both the teacher and the students. These are clearly explained, demonstrated, and displayed.

  • 04

Classroom culture is positive, respectful, encouraging and caring.

Create a Safe Learning Environment

  • 01

Students are treated with respect and encouraged to ask questions and address concerns. Student’s active nature will be considered by taking brain breaks that incorporate movement and exercise.

  • 02

Students are provided with a consistant daily routine and class schedule. Students will know what to expect and will be familiar with day-to-day procedures.

  • 03

Students will be given clear expectations for daily tasks and behaviors. This will allow for smooth transitions and productive learning.

  • 04

Students will be given class jobs. This will teach students responsibility and accountability while allowing students to take an active role in their learning environment.

Positive Reinforcement

  • 01

I utilize positive reinforcement in the classroom as my primary behavior management technique.

  • 02

I encourage students to display appropriate behavior through the use of a sticker chart. This results in class coupons and prizes (Lunch with teacher, bring a stuffed animal to school, etc.)

  • 03

Each table will become a team that can earn points throughout the day for smooth transitions, productive work time, quick clean up, etc. These points will result in a prize.

  • 04

Parents will receive positive phone calls when students exhibit appropriate behaviors and positive character traits.

Appropriate Consequences

  • 01

Appropriate consequences will be the result of inappropriate behavior. Students will learn accountability, responsibility and self-direction.

  • 02

I believe a behavior chart is helpful for some classrooms. This should include both positive movement (good, great, outstanding) and negative movement (warning, take a break, phone call home).

  • 03

When a student or students have displayed consistent inappropriate behavior, I like to use an end of the day evaluation. This consists of the student and I reflecting and evaluating the behaviors displayed throughout the day. This evaluation is sent home for a parent signature.

  • 04

I apply the use of logical consequences in the classroom. These consequences are respectful, relevant and realistic.  For example, if two students are talking during silent work time, they are quietly and calmly told to separate for the remainder of that work time.
